x0xb0x was created by LadyAda from Adafruit, to be a 100% fully analog reproduction of the Roland TB303 synthesizer
The sound is
imperceptibly close
to the original, with a builtin
sequencer that can be programmed just like the original 303 (
its actually a little easier
)
x0xb0x can be used to control other synthesizers, through a variety of output including MIDI
The onboard EEPROM supports 128 banks of "track memory" and 64 banks of "pattern memory"

The Adafruit team went about the process of exhaustively disassembling and reverse-engineering the TB303, form it's original schematic diagrams
All of the original transistors were analyzed using curve-tracers, to determine their specific characteristics
Every waveform was measured and every frequency cycle was counted, to provide the most accurate and
best possible sound
It sounds just like the original, because
it basically IS just like the original
