    Description

Hello, I am a motorcycle custom painter by trade and came up with the design of these skid plates to protect the lower lip AND bottom of your hard bag from being scraped.  These plates work whether it is for a factory Harley bag or an aftermarket extended bag.
These skid plates are made of 16 gauge 304 Stainless steel.  They are 19" long and
1-5/8" wide. The length can be cut down to fit your application if needed.
    Made locally in Ohio!
Skid plates are being sold in pairs (2 skid plates, one for each side).
    - These skid plates are "blanks" and will have to be
    modified
in most cases to fit your hard bag.  (See directions below)
    - The plates are in no way a finished product!! They will have scratches, scrapes and markings on them.  I try my best to clean up the edges but they still may have burrs or be sharp.
******I am in no way guaranteeing that these skid plates will fit your hard bag....every aftermarket hard bag is made differently.
My plates are perfectly straight.  To check to see if my plates will work with your extended bags...take a straight edge to your bag to determine how much of contour they have to them.*******
***The plates cannot be returned if they have been modified!!***
My skid plates have a curved edge to protect the lower lip of the bag while in a turn.  Most skid plates are flat and mounted under the bag, which does not protect the lip.
They can be polished, left alone (raw), powder coated or painted to match your current color.
    Directions:
Most hard bag lowers are "similar" in shape but definitely not the same.  If you took a straight edge to the outside face of your bag, towards the bottom, in most cases it is contoured and not perfectly straight, where as my skid plates are perfectly straight.
The solution I have found to mount the skid plates to fit nearly exact to your bag's contour is to make relief cuts (2 cuts). Measure 6 inches in from the right and left sides on the flat portion.
Two 1/16" wide x 1.25" long cuts should be enough to accomplish this.  The reliefs will allow you to slightly bend the skid plate to form to the contour of your bag.  If the relief cuts do not work, cut more by dividing the remaining sections in half.  If it's still not fitting correctly or to your liking, you can cut even more reliefs.
    Mounting:
Two examples: One, Utilizing a 3M double sided automotive "foam" tape, or two, by drilling mount holes for a nut and bolt setup.  I would recommend stainless fasteners for corrosion protection if utilizing the nut and bolt mount method.  I would also suggest putting some kind of material between the plate and bag (if nut and bolt mounting) to protect the painted surface of your bag.
If using these plates on the redesigned 2014 or newer stock Harley bags...you will have to cut at least 1.25 inches off the length.  A relief cut will not be needed because these new bags do not have a contour....they are straight.
    *Patent pending
A little feedback from a customer:

You are the shit! these fit my stretched bags perfect. put them on, went for a ride sure enough hit a pot hole and they did their job !
The plates are metal and will have scratches, scrapes and marks on them.
****Please measure your current bag for fitment before ordering.  I cannot accept any returns if the plates have been modified in any way.******
    Any questions? please ask.
    Thank you.
Please send pictures of the plates mounted on your bike!!!
