August by Don Sims Vintage MD1 Series 5 Dual Turntable Classic DJ Disco Deck
The turntable pictured is the actual turntable you will receive!
What a throwback! Just when we thought that gone are the days of records, Radio D.J.'s and car lot promotions, we received this amazing blast from the past!
This encased dual turntable radio-ready "disco deck" set from August by Dave Simms - of Simms-Watts fame - is quite possibly the coolest piece of gear that we've come across in quite sometime.
Features include a dual-turntable configuration with individual on-off switches, individual 33 rpm/45 rpm switches for each deck, Microphone and Tape inputs and Mixer and Headphone outputs, allowing you to easily run additional media, along with a broadcasting microphone and 2 records at a time through this single deck.
Other features include a Microphone volume and tone control, a Mute switch, Volume controls for Tape, Deck 1 and Deck 2, a Master Volume, Bass and Treble controls, and a Pre-Fade selector switch with an individual Volume control.
Simms was a former music store owner in London, who partnered up with Richard Watts in 1968 to start the once successful Simms Watts amplifier company - even used by David Bowie's guitarist during the Ziggy Stardust years. After establishing himself as a solder-gun-wizard, Simms moved on to start his own company, building high-fidelity audio products in 1974 - like this MK I
    Series
5 dual record player by August.
Originally used by radio stations as they traveled around to do on-sight broadcasting, these have become increasingly rare and popular among audiophiles who demand the best sounding decks. Keeping the history of this incredibly vintage piece is the WGRZ Buffalo radio station label on the top of this deck - a station that got it's start on August 14th, 1954.
This is a used turntable and does show some signs of use, but has been fully tested and functions as expected. Please take a moment to review our pictures, as they accurately portray the true condition of the turntable.
