ANTIQUE 19thC FRENCH TELESCOPE & COMPASS WALKING STICK GADGET CANE
    Description -
This is a very fine 19th century walking stick / gadget cane fitted with a telescope / spyglass and a compass to the inside. The ornate cap and fittings are gilt bronze and nicely cast. The cap unscrews to reveal a compass inside the cap. The spyglass / telescope slides out. It is a 2 draw telescope measuring 17 1/4" when fully opened and 13 3/4" when closed. The optics are very good and work smoothly. The cane is most likely French, since on  the compass, instead of a W it has an O for Ouest.
